The Airport & it's location

 

Stansted Airport is the UK's third largest airport based 50 miles north of London in the county of Essex. It is connected to northeast London and Cambridge by the M11 motorway, to the East via the new A120 and by express electric trains to the London terminus of Liverpool Street station. The access from the M11 motorway has recently been improved with a new grade-separated junction.

Stansted Airport is currently a medium-sized passenger airport with a single runway and terminal, however, much to the locals objection, provisional plans have been published with the addition of 3 new runways.

Longstay Airport Car Parking

Despite the praise that stansted airport has recieved for the design of it's new terminal building and layout, Stansted Airport's long-term parking facility is inconveniently located and as with most airport parking, it is not cheap. Passengers hoping to use stansted's long term airport parking facility should realise that it is about a mile from the terminal and should therefore allow at least twenty minutes to park and use a courtesy bus shuttle service prior to check-in.

Bearing this in mind, the openning of the new A120 offered a solution to offer discounted offsite airport parking for stansted. Stansted Park and Fly saw this opportunity and decided to offer an alternative long stay parking facility for stansted airport. The Parking facility is conveniently located just 12 minutes from the terminal and offers a selection of services such as 'meet and greet' and a valet service as well as very competitively priced airport parking.

Short stay Airport Car Parking

The short term airport car parks are conveniently next to the bus/coach station adjacent to the terminal and the rail terminus is at basement level beneath that terminal. Stansted Airport Facilities

 

Stansted airports new terminal has a great range of facilities in both the arrivals and the departures lounge.

Stansted airport has a number of shops throughout the terminal, as well as a large duty-free outlets and A free shopping collection service is available (tel: (0)870 000 1000). Stansted's terminal also has ATMs, bureaux de change and an Internet exchange with wireless Internet.
In terms of eating and drinking, there are various restaurants, cafés and bars, including a 24-hour coffee bar.

Disabled facilities at Stansted Airport

 

Stansted Airport has been well designed to accomadate for disabled travellers with wheelchair-accessible toilets throughout the airport, hearing loops,telephones with fitted induction couplers and TDD telephones.

All trains serving London Stansted Airport are equipped with facilities for disabled passengers and reserved seating and parking is provided as well as courtesy transfer shuttles which are wheelchair-accessible.

Stansetd Airport also offers Ramps, lifts and elevators which link all levels of the terminal building, including the station. Passengers requiring wheelchair and assistance boarding the aircraft should contact their airline prior to travel.

Stansted Airport Hotels

 

The Hilton London Stansted (tel: (0)1279 680 800), located at the airport, offers a courtesy bus link to/from the terminal.

The brand new Radisson SAS hotel has 500 rooms and is just two minutes via a covered walkway from the terminal building. There is a hotel reservation service on the International Arrivals concourse (tel: (0)1279 661 220 or 662 929).
